"The Game that sends chills down the Spine"
Scorn and Ebb Software:
A much-awaited game Scorn developed by Ebb Software which was in development for over 7 years finally released for Microsoft Windows and Xbox series X on October 14, 2022, unfortunately not for the PlayStation 5 at this point in time. Scorn is a Biopunk dystopian ish survival horror video game that took its environmental designs and art inspiration from the artworks of H.R Giger and Zdzislaw Beksinski.
The Psychological Horror:
Phase 1:
The story of the game starts abruptly by putting the players into the shoes of a humanoid type of creature that scuffles its way towards a gigantic mechanical tower on the horizon however before the protagonist can reach it falls into a pit, after gaining consciousness the unnamed creature must find its way out through the grotesque mechanical chamber by solving varies puzzles. The first puzzle was to hatch a baby creature by rearranging some machine-like sort of enigma on the wall above the hatching facility, after the baby creature was born it was placed on a cart and brought to an unexplained mechanism that decapitated the newborn into pieces so that its arm could be used to traverse through the other levels by placing it into a mechanical alien ish keyhole.
After making his way to the creepy complex the protagonist tends to his first weapon from the incubation room. This Biomechanical weapon was used to unlock and power up certain contraptions and puzzles. On Exiting the incubation room the protagonist unveils a puzzle that activates white mechanical-robotic creatures that worked their way to an enormous structure resulting in a tremor and shock to the facility killing and transforming the first protagonist into a hideous lizard-type creature.
Phase 2:
The Scene then changes toward another humanoid creature hatching from the huge wall of eggs with an umbilical cord still attached to its body game at this point the game also showcases to the player a plethora of other different humanoids creatures who met their demise due to the barren unforgiving wastelands atmosphere, after making way through the pile of corpses the newly born protagonist finds its way to the same Alien structure where the previous protagonist had awoken too.
The protagonist goes deeper and deeper into the alien tower after being at the bottom of the structure the protagonist is ambushed by a lizard-like molded creature that fuses and latches itself with the protagonist like a parasite. The protagonist then discovers an alien gun suggesting that the parasite creature that merged itself was none other than the previous protagonist of the game.
Phase 3:
After reaching the heart of the alien tower the character is presented with a key-based alien puzzle that when solved unlocks four egg-like pods from which a humanoid hatch from one of the pods, however, meets its demise after premature birth.
The protagonist then moves further into the facility to the place where the first protagonist was shifted to the molded creature after the explosion took place however the structure seemed quite different from the previous act of the game as the world around was slowly eroding and disintegrating into pieces at every turn suggesting the death of the civilization and any life form due to its harsh environment.
Phase 4:
The protagonist finds himself in the alien hive where the character must place egg-like pods into the track in order to traverse the environment, the character soon encounters various enemy creatures from all shapes and sizes after defeating the enemies by using a newly discovered projectile-based alien gun and the rocket launcher, the character finds a healing pod to power up weapons and one's health.
The Enigmatic Ending:
Pursuing further down the alien facility the protagonist must solve another puzzle that involves split opening a gigantic-enormous creature from three different sides in order to elevate the contractions. Managing to solve the puzzle the humanoid creature started to wear down by the lizard creature latched on to its back.
Desperate to detach the lizard-like creature from its back, the protagonist operated on itself through an alien macroscopic bio-machine thus succeeding in removing the creature from the body however the operation left the protagonist frail and feeble.
In order to survive the character must enter a dissenting room to be operated by a doctor-like mechanical figure that cuts open the guts and head of the character from various parts and connects the mind to a huge conscious hive. After being carried by another Humanoid figure toward the horizon both were ambushed by the same lizard creature thus resulting in merging into an unexplained creature.
